X6 Play Smartwatch Review From Xplora Editor's Rating ★★★★★ Rated 5 out of 5 Age Recommendation 4 Share! Editor's Review Many parents want their kids to be connected but don’t want their kids to have a smartphone. The X6 Play Smartwatch is designed to give kids just the right amount of independence while also giving peace of mind to parents. The watch is designed for use with kids between 4 and 11. It doesn’t look baby-ish and can even be customized with colorful straps or frames. Kids wear the watch and parents keep track of their kids through a parent app. So for kids, that means a 1.52-inch LCD screen, a camera to take photos, messaging and calling to pre-approved contacts, an emergency button, and an activity platform with a step counter that encourages and rewards kids for being active. For parents, this means kids don’t have access to the internet, parent-controlled contacts, location tracking and the ability to set safe zones, and school mode. Yes, once you buy the watch you do need to purchase a SIM card plan, ranging in price from $9.99/month to $13.99/month. All of that can be activated through the Xplora website or app. This is a 4G Android watch and you can get it in black, black and lime, or black and pink. It does come with two extra watch frames and two loops in lime green and pink, plus a USB charger. Price Check $169 Should I get it? This is a nice way of introducing technology to younger kids and teaching them how to use it responsibly. Kids want the same devices they see their own parents using, and the look and functionality of the X6 Play definitely deliver a more grownup experience than other similar products. Our kid tester loved having her own phone number and calling and texting Mom and Dad. She didn’t even mind that the watch doesn’t connect to the internet.
